Sneaking in a post before Christmas Day

Image
Nearing the end of the year and reflecting on many wonderful times I have a card and new notebook to share. Yesterday, I was humming a Christmas Carol all day, We Three Kings ... On Sunday night I had stamped and coloured the Janet Klein Dog Toys #249. So here is how that song manifested into a card. The background is made with Ring the Changes #88 and the border is a little worker stamp #33 We Three Dog Toys from Janet and Aall, sending wishes near and so far... Hidden under a pile of paper was a piece of calico that I couldn't throw away, it was to big to go in the bin but not big enough for a full project. I was reminded by Abs on his recent Hochanda show of using a stencil under the fabric. I set to with my brayer and stencil Totally Dotty #87 and a couple of paints. I love the texture this technique gives.  I added some stamping, doodling and die cutting then bound together to make a notebook. Stamps, Count on You #211, Background Mash Up #210, Hope #...

Stencilling onto fabric

I had these make up brushes recommended to me by a friend and they are fab for stencilling ink and paint as the bristles are really fine.

Painting onto fabric with fabric paint

Hi and welcome. I had a few requests from friends and followers of All&Create to show how I colour and stamp onto fabric. It is a passion of mine to create my own fabric and I usually start with calico as it takes the colour really well and isn't too expensive. When explaining about how I make it isn't always easy so I've taken photos to go along with the words. I started by wetting the fabric with a water spray and it is important to thoroughly wet it, it you don't the paint grabs really quickly. There are many different companies that produce fabric inks and I chose the Izink for this project. If your fabric is definitely not going to be washed you can use acrylic paint. There is a quick video showing how I apply the paint in the following blog post.  I usually leave the fabric over night I stencilled it with my favourite Lotza Dotz. A short video is on a following blog post. Next was to stamp the flower heads ...

Ink twice, stamp twice

Hello, I wanted to share a card I made showing a technique I used shown to me and others at a recent workshop. Using a stamping (helper/platform thingy) stamping first with a distress ink then blending out the ink with a water brush. Ink up the stamp a second time with a permanent ink pad, I used Versafine Black. The stamp platform is crutial so that the second stamping is perfectly in place over the first. This is a quick card and multiple colours of Distress ink can be used giving fab effects. Thanks for visiting Debbie

First post on my new blog

Hello and welcome to my new blog.  I decided that after many years of blogging on my original page Crafty Flossie it was time to start a new blog. I used to be on another design team and after I stepped away from them I didn't blog often.  I recently joined AALL& CREATE as a member of their team who make cards for TV. The team led by Abs are a fab group. I've had the pleasure of meeting a few members of the wider team and many of the ladies I have admired their work for many years.  I recently had the pleasure of attending a workshop with Abs, he is such a talented teacher sharing many techniques. Sue from Artworkshops hosted the event and everyone had a great weekend. Here are the photos of one of the days we did. These stamps are larger size stamps and have so many different elements to them. They are available from either Artist Trading Post or AALL&CREATE Thank you for visiting Debbie
